Prevention and Combating of Corruption Bureau PCCB
The word PCCB is the acronym for Prevention and Combating of Corruption Bureau. The PCCB is a public institution established under the Prevention and Combating of Corruption Law or Prevention of Corruption Act (PCA) No. 11 of 2007. The law was enacted after the repeal of the Law for the Prevention of Corruption (TAKURU) Chapter 329 which was revised in 2002.
The establishment of this body came after the Parliament of the United Republic of Tanzania passed the 2007 Prevention and Combating Corruption Bill on April 16, 2007. This bill was signed by the President of the United Republic of Tanzania Mr Jakaya Kikwete became the Prevention and Combating of Corruption Bureau Act on June 11, 2007, and came into force on July 1, 2007.
Tanzania’s first anti-corruption agency dates back to 1974 when Act No. 2 mandated the establishment of an Anti-Corruption Squad
